Just done a fresh install of MediaPortal 1.0.2 on all new kit (except for the case which hides in a cupboard).
ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe, AMD Athlon X2 64 all directly wired via HDMI to my TV taking TV from FloppyDTV cards (3 * S2 and 1 * T). and 1 TB SATA WD HDD. Digital from antenna to screen.

Took me ages to get DJBlu's Sky EPG working this time - don't know why either! WAF took a huge plunge then too.

Now I have a problem or actually three and I wondered if anyone could help...

    One - Where is FreeSat?

I know that FreeSat is Astra by another name but if I scan using this I have NO IDEA which is which so it is MUCH easier to have FreeSat as a separate bird so that it comes up in a separate list. (Not to mention the fact that I get a load of channels that I don't have a [second] valid card for!)

SO how can I get a FreeSat entry please.

As others have mentioned there IS a FreeSat config but it seems to need more than that.

Two - What has happened to FreeView?

I have a floppy DVB-T taking terrestrial pointing to my (newly 'digital switched over' transmitter at Stockland Hill, Devon) this also feeds from here into my TV.

Now scanning (outside of MediaPortal) using the Digital Everywhere (OK, cheating since I selected France DVB-T) finds BBC channels, but using TVServer config it doesn't find a SINGLE BBC channel!

(It DOES find around thirty channels , Dave, E4+1, ITV2 +1, radio channels etc. but no Beeb TV!)

It ISN'T the signal since the television gets the signal AFTER the card and scanning that gets all the BBC channels. I would have thought the the FloppyDTV was at least as sensitive and the Toshiba TV!

There are no possible config options to tweak (unlike satellite it is all fixed by the transmitter selection).

Have I missed something, does it need to be updated to cope with the new digital regime...?

Finally does anyone know why Microsoft MCE remote doesn't like the new processor (yes, done the registry fix).

After a while it stops working (happens outside of MediaPortal too, so not blaming you for THAT one!)

    Hiya,

The Freesat 28.2E specific tuning file was missing from 1.0.1 onwards. What I did was to do a quick install of 1.0.0 (just the TV Server) on a seperate machine and take the Freesat 28.2E tuning parameters file from that, copy it to the relevant directory (in the TV Server install directory tree). There might be 1 other config file (.xml) to add a line in I think in order for it to appear in the drop down list.

As for Freeview, I'm off the Beacon Hill transmitter and both that and Stockland have recently been switched over so the new frequencies might not have made it into 1.0.2. I know I had to update the frequencies manually recently for Beacon Hill.

If you drill down into the TV Server install directory you'll find a single file (again .xml) (same place as all the satellite tuning parameter files) which contains the tuning parameters for all DVB-T transmitters for the UK and abroad which is currently in Media Portal. Take a backup then open the file in notepad and scroll down until you find Stockland Hill (near the bottom). Assuming Stockland Hill has now completed the switch over, the current frequencies are:

    482000
    490000
    506000
    514000
    530000
    538000
    546000

Replace the existing frequencies with those and re-scan.

    Cheers

    Paddy

    I luv ya...

    Paddy, thank you.

I had found the Satellites somewhere so I jumped onto SourceForge and got them from there.

(For anyone else you download it from the SVN of January of this year - took me ages to find it and also get hold of the Satellites.xml which has the FreeSat line [no url]. If you really want more details ask and I'll go through it step by step.)

    But, back to Paddy...

Thnak you, thank you thank you. You are fantastic!

I knew it had to be something stupid missing (and no blame to MediaPortal - it IS an international product not JUST the UK), but somehow you did the legwork to get the frequencies.

Fantabulous - this is why I like forums!
