Hi all,
since updating to 1.2.0 RC, Media Portal sometimes freezes while changing channels. When I press a button on my remote, I can hear a click, but nothing happens. The screens always shows the TV / ZAP OSD.
This has never happened before with 1.2.0 Beta.

Log files with the last two freezes are attached.

Can you try a different video decoder ? - someone else has reported some problems (but not freezing) when using LAV CUVID decoder and nVidia 275.xx drivers.

Everyone please keep in mind that even though LAV has great potential, it is still in development and has bugs!
If you encounter issues, then please try a different video/audio filter first!

Not at all. Sure LAV is in development but stable so far.

I had 1.2Beta + LAV CUVID 0.12 running stable for SD/HD Channels. GT430 on 275.89 Tesla Drivers. Without any other tweaks or SVN Files. Now on 1.2RC it dosn´t work for HD. MS Decoder runs fine. So after a short chat with Tony, i decided not to switch the Codec, instead of using a other Nvidia Driver. I´m on 270.90 Tesla now .... and it runs great.
With LAV CUVID an MS .... no issues.

That brings up some points which can only be answered from some Profs.

    1. something changed in MP wich caused a "Driver Problem" ?
    2. something in LAV dosn´t work correctly with MP 1.2RC ?

So if both parties ( Nev and MP Developers ) could work together ... i would love it.

So everybody is free to test other drivers or Codecs. Even that LAV makes are better picture ( in my case ) -- i will check drivers first.

    Regards,
    Daniel

    AW: Freeze while changing channels

I can now reproduce the freeze very easily. It occurs when I try to switch the channels very fast, I press the next channel button before the new channel is shown on TV.
I tried a SVN version about 4 weeks ago and there the freeze didn't occur. So one of the latest changes must have introduced the problem.

I will try that when I'm back at home this evening.

make also sure that you are using the latest LAV CUVID version. 0.9 isn´t up-to-date

you have to take a few things into consideration.
    1. there was no stable/final release of LAV yet
    2. if it works without issues for one person (like you and I :D) then this does not mean that it has to work for everyone else / with all other mediatypes

I had 1.2Beta + LAV CUVID 0.12 running stable for SD/HD Channels. GT430 on 275.89 Tesla Drivers. Without any other tweaks or SVN Files. Now on 1.2RC it dosn´t work for HD. MS Decoder runs fine. if LAV Video (CUDA) works with one driver form nvidia, but not with an other then this can be a bug in either of these two.

So if both parties ( Nev and MP Developers ) could work together ... i would love it.
You can scratch the "could", our devs already have contact. :D
    Stay tuned for 1.3.0. ;)

    1.2 Beta + 275.98 + LAV CUVID = works
    1.2 RC + 275.98 + LAV CUVID = doesn´t work
    1.2 RC + 270.90 + LAV CUVID = works

so sorry but im not sure if Nvidia breaks something

However, i only wan´t to suggest something, which helps in my case. I´m sure MePo is on the right way to get better and better. Great to hear, that both parties are in contact. Keep on working. The users will love it.

    /Daniel
