I was wondering what the problem was here...
is it my PC or what, i'm unsure...:

I have installed Media Portal Fine...

When i try to start it up it freezes where it says "initializing activex"

Can someone please help me out?

I have the latest version on Directx (9.0c)...

hi DJ ;-)

To get the most information, you are best off looking in the logs located in the mediaportal/logs directory. The mediaportal and erro logs will be the most useful.
If you aren't sure what to look for, post them here and I'm sure someone will be ale to help.

I had the same problem and even after reinstalling directx, the problem was still there.
Since nobody answered with a working solution to my problem, I reinstalled from scratch.

I no longer need MediaPortal as i have now upgraded to vista, and vista has a built in Media Centre.

Thanks anyway, but i believe i know what the solution was...

My graphics card did not meet the reccomended requirements.
