I looked for this problem through other posts but couldn't find an exact answer/specific fix. I want to use mp on flat screen tv and for ease of use for wife I want it to start on boot in full screen mode, but when I do that mp loses the blue background and much of text is missing. Starts fine if I uncheck fullscreen mode in config. I've tried to adjust resolution, changes skins, and play with other config/general options with no success. I'm sure this is an easy fix, but I'm new to MP and not very fluent with it yet.

If this only happens with fullscreen and not windowed mode, then i suggest you tell us which Graphics card\adapter have you got inside your pc.

If you are not sure you can check using programs\accessories\system\system information\components\display to tell you the graphics installed.

ps. the other thing that springs to mind, is if you have windows font settings to 120dpi

    Hi

Just did some research on this graphics controller, unfortunately the chances are this is where the problem lies,
It does not support full dx9 and chances are it just does not have enough oomph to run MP fullscreen, most older (and intel ceased supporting this chip in september 2005, last driver released June 2005) onboard graphics will not work, as MP uses dx9 for rendering its GUI.

Any Nvidia FX5200 or ATI 9600 upwards cards will work fine.

    :sorry:

thats complete stupid crap! I have the same problem with the same card but an intel gma 900 does the job fine???
the intel gma 900 is much older and it supports dx9 there are drivers that arent a month old. the problem is caused through the codec used. if i use the powerdvd codec i have the same problem. chance to an other codec like mpv or ffdshow and the problem can be solved. always that stupid buy something new i hate it!

There a people on this world that can´t buy new things every week!

Lucky i do not get upset easily, a lot of it can just be motherboard not allowing these chipsets to do there job, and as far as being DX9 compatible, try doing some intensive graphics rendering with them, then you may notice some short comings.

This is not intended to kill peoples opportunities to enjoy MP, but more as a guide.

Can the next time you post, just make it constructive or at least funny, as most people here have a sense of humour.

My last post was very constructive: chance codec! That solves the problem. He don´t want to play games he only want to use MP and it is possible with that graphic card. Has Hardware Support for MPEG2 and H.264. I use an Intel GMA900 with 1.0.0.0RC2 and every thing is just fine. Ok i had some trouble with 1.0.0.0RC1 and PowerDVD 8 but now i can configure PowerDVD 8 Codec in MP configuration and activate hardware acceleration and now TV is fine. Wihout hardware accelaration sometimes i had problems - first start of TV sayed could not start Timeshift. I used even a mainboard with the I945 Chipset and with the MPV Codec i had never had problems. Only PowerDVD 8 with MP 1.0.0.0RC1 caused the white background problem. Sorry i couln´t test it with MP1.0.0.0RC2 because i don´t have that Mainboard anymore because i want one with a quad core Prozessor :D
The NVidia FX5200 is slower than the intel GMA950 that is integrated in the I945 chipset and causes useless warmth in the system!

PS: I played Need for Speed Underground II with that Intel Card i think that is some intensive graphics rendering :)
But i know that you can´t play Age of Conan with it :D

I have the same problem. I'm new to MP and installed RC3 on my WinXP machine. I have an ATI All-In-Winder 9000 Series card (running the 6.14.106462 driver version from 23/March/04). When staring MP on full screen mode it shows almost everythis in white (even with a variety of skins). It doesn't crash but you can only guess where the icons/options are. In windowed mode it runs for less than a minute and then crashes. Reading this thread I derive that the problem is with the graphic card, any idea how to fix it?
    thanks in advance,
    mariano.
