Hello there,

I'm using MP 1.0 RC4 at the moment and of course I'm going to update to 1.0 Final as soon as possible. Obviously I would like to keep all my settings and just read the info on the front page about how to make a backup of your MP settings and also the advice to do a fresh install without taking over files from older versions.

I guess I can live with that although it start to be a little annoying to go through all the settings for the don't-know-which time (I'm using MP since 0.8.9.x).

It tried to get the backup plugin to work but had no chance doing that (I always get a failure notice when I put the plugin file in the plugins directory and try to access it via MP configuration).

Are there already any plans on implementing a setup process which allows to keep all the settings from a former version. Or is there already a way to save all settings in a config file?

It would be nice to see sth. like that! Thanks in advance and best regards

Double-A,
i am planning to do a separate mediaPortal plugin BackupSettingsMp for users who do not have Tv server installed. As this is my first MP plugin it will take some more time.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to test your batch-file yet ... well, the holidays you know.

A plugin for MP would be great! I will check for updates regularly.

I guess I can say "thank you!" in the name of the whole MediaPoral Community.

Hmmm.... I see I am not the only one who has second thoughts about this cumbersome process.

How about making it possible to optionally make a module implement an IPortable interface that has an Import and Export method on it. Default format as XML for example. Then a module maker could make sure that he implements the correct code to backup/restore settings for his module. This would in turn be possible to be triggered from another module like BackupSettings. Then such a module would be piece of cake to create.

Have you tried to backup all the app-files and restoring them again with final version? .... Does it work? .... What about DB-changes and such?
