'Gapless' MP3 playback (1 Viewer)

Hi Y'all

A major feature that, to me, is an absolute bottom line requirement is the ability to play the next MP3 track/file WITHOUT a gap between the previous track/file.

My Archos MP3 player (with Rockbox) can do it. It should not be a great demand on the system (repeat - if a small handheld HDD-based device can do it then a PC should be able to.)

Listening to, for example, a live album, or Brian Wilson's SMiLE, it really needs to be heard without gaps. With them one's enjoyment is seriously spoilt!

MCE2005 can do it but that's a bit of an overload for my media PC (VIA M6000). Plus I want to keep MP as it's a great piece of software that seems to have a scalable footprint.

Other 'features' would be great but, as I say above, bottom line...

Yours

Mac

Gapeless MP3 is not an easy task because MP3 is not a gapeless format.

But you can use foobar2000 as an external player to have gapeless support in MP.

You could use a rockbox trick and do a slight crossfade between the songs to achieve this.

Sam
p.s. Rockbox maybe be able to do it without fading, but I've never tried it - I'm happy with the crossfading ;-)
