Hi, sorry if I'm in the wrong place.

I'm trying to solve a problem on reading tv signals from a Compro s500
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...my-videomate-s500-dtv-tuner-71088/index3.html

It has been suggested I work with 1.2 and I now want to download the code for this so I can continue to trace the issue. I'm new to Subversion and Tortoise and have followed the wiki entry and obtained 1.1 code and compiled it.

I suspect I need some new urls, but I cannot find them. I found the subversion web page which I suspect had the source, but I wasn't sure how to use it.

WebSVN - MediaPortal - Rev 27928 - /trunk/

Could someone point me in the right direction or suggest what I need to read up on please.

Will I need permission?

Regards Gordon

    Hi,

For now you are best off installing 1.2.0beta. Download link is on the homepage.

    Hi,

yes I've installed the app, still getting the same error as in 1.1, but I want to trace through what is happening so I can fix it - I need the source code for that.

oops mistake - so sorry, not used to this product or forum.

    Uhmm,

    found this:
    What is SVN?

SVN is short for SubVersion. SubVersion is a versioning system popular amongst software developers to keep track of changes between them. Each time a change/fix is committed to the repository, the SVN number increase.
Our developers will sometimes release SVN versions to the public. When used in that sentence, it just means that it is a newer version of MediaPortal that will contain all updates/fixes/additions up to that specific revision number.
SVN versions should normally be used only for testing purposes, but sometimes it can give you a nice head start on new features if you are willing to take the risk.
SVN releases are normally based on the latest full release and normally it is possible to apply a SVN version without losing existing settings.
Sometimes you will read in mantis or in a developer's post that a certain issue is fixed in a certain SVN number. That does not mean it is immediately available for you to download and test. You might have to wait for the next public SVN release or official MediaPortal release to be published.

Can anyone confirm if the 1.2 beta code is available?

If not I'll have to go back to 1.1.3 to try and solve my issue.

and thanks to elliotmc, sorry if my post didn't seem appreciative.

    Thanks for that link.

I have already done that and have an (almost) fully working and compilable test system. However, it is the 1.1.3 code base I think and not the 1.2 code base.

    Hi,

This should be the 1.2.0 code. What is the latest SVN revision you have showing? We are currently on 27930.

Ahh, how can I find that information?

The reason I think I have the 1.1.3 is that I don't seem to be showing the new layout for selecting satellite transponder parameters. For instance the new 1.2 allows you to select the Forward FECrate.

I did make some changes to my local code base, could that stop an upgrade as in when i right click and use SVN update?

Sorry to be such a noob about this.

To clarify, 1.2 is trunk. 1.1 is a branch (so you would have had to explicitly check out that branch)

    Thanks guys.

I am clearing everything out and will try again using the Current SVN (27930): https://sources.team-mediaportal.com/svn/public/trunk/

I think I understand it now.

I think in following the wiki, I used individual folders rather than just checking out at the trunk folder level and getting everything in one hit.

    I'll let you know :)

I have re-downloaded, am running mediaportal for the first time in debug mode, splash screen is showing 1.2.0.0 so that looks good.

Unfortunately the initial config wizard is crashing after selecting the normal (non-expert) mode. Using the inbuilt debugger of VS2010 seems to imply that no available language is found.

Anyway that's a problem for tomorrow, time for bed.

    Thanks for all your help.
