Synopsis::

normal tv seems fine but tickers seem to jerk along, as does football when the camera pans and the ball seems to ghost on fast movement. have tried changing the refresh rate but am still experiencing jerkiness on tickers [not tried on football]

i'm using the nvidia purevideo decoder, as it seems to have solved the horrible tearing i was experiencing with other codecs.

have set the resolution to 720p at 50Hz (leaves me with overscan, and if i try to correct this in nvidia it puts the refresh rate back up to 60Hz). Have also changed to the MPA and MPV codecs, went to test out the ticker thing again and it dosn't really looked to have made a difference, am watching the tennis at the moment and i don't think it has made a difference, guess i'll just have to wait for the football to start later.

EDIT: Tried these settings with the football and if anything it looks worse

    do you have exclusive DX mode enabled?

    Of course DVB-T will look like sh*t on such a resolution..

    I had this problem but changing the refresh rate DID fix it, eventually..

    At first I set up as a custom resolution in the nVidia control panel, and set the refresh rate to 100hz (I have a 100hz CRT TV). This made no difference - the juddering tickers being the most obvious way to test it.

    I then went into the advanced setup (where you can change all the resolution settings like clock, porch etc.) and the refresh rate was showing as 60 (59.something to be exact - despite my trying to set 100hz in the custom resolutions). I changed the refresh rate on that advanced dialog to 100, hit Apply and it seemed to be OK with that.
    When I returned to fullscreen TV the ticker was fixed and football was smooth and clear. I haven't dared to go back into the advanced screen since, in case it undoes it somehow!

    have tried all suggested and still no luck.

    yes i do have exclusive direct x, there is nothing wrong with most dvb-t on the resolution, it does only seem to be fast movement/panning cameras that causes stuttering.

    i have actually tried numberous resolution settings (even standard tv) with 50Hz entered into advanced time and it's still looking jerky

    Same problem here. Stutter w/ Nvidia Purevideo. Actually, also with Intervideo. Problems are worse with hardware acceleration turned ON.

    Yesterday I tried:
    - reclock
    - PCI latency (via Powerstrip)

    I have a smooth picture (although I did notice some artifacts) when I select Dscaler as decoder. Will try something else tonight.

    Just a thought, you have better hardware than me, however just wondering how you are connecting your PC to the CRT.

    I had all sorts of crap go bad using powerstrip trying to get an S-video connection to work outside of its capabilities.

    I used this site to manufacture my own VGA-Scart cable

    http://ryoandr.free.fr

    I use these settings in Powerstrip to provide my Philips CRT with an image:

    • PowerStrip timing parameters:
      1024x576=1024,68,48,132,576,5,5,39,19875,312

      Generic timing details for 1024x576:
      HFP=68 HSW=48 HBP=132 kHz=16 VFP=5 VSW=5 VBP=39 Hz=25

      Linux modeline parameters:
      "1024x576" 19.875 1024 1092 1140 1272 576 581 586 625 interlace +hsync
      +vsync

    Works like a charm.
