I am giving up on MP.I have been trying for 3 weeks to make it work.The closest I ever got is it would play my channels but no guide.

The more I tried to make webepg work, the worse everthing got.I downloaded,re-installed,svn'ed, read all th forums,tried all the suggested fixes but to no avail. Now all it does is give me error messages.

I don't think it's my system because wintv and Sagetv both work well. Don't like Wintv 'cause the guide is not integrated.

Sage tv installs itself with nno problems but it is expen$ive

Did you ever ask for help?
register and post system details and mediaportal logs and i'm sure the community would be able to help in your journey into mediaportal

Have to agree with aidbish, MP is something you need to ease into, questions about things are part of that journey, unfortunately there is no way the manual can keep up with every possible configuration our users have.

Register and make your problems known, but please read the requirements page in the manual first, that is most peoples downfall

yes it *is* frustrating getting it set up. Takes a lot of time and effort!

I started on first htpc nov last year and last week had it running perfectly. 3 months of work, all of my spare time). I think I went through 5 or 6 different fresh installs (maybe more, lost count) and I dont know how many disk image replacements to get it right. In the process tried xp and vista and ended up going back to xp. About 6 weeks in I completely rebuilt the machine (not because of MP but because I wanted to play HD content), so that added complexity to the task.

Hard work. No doubt about it. All I can say is; ASK FOR HELP IF YOU GET STUCK! There's a great community of users in this forum and if you make decent support requests (with enough information, logs etc), people will help you out.

It *can* be done and its (as far as I can see) hands down the best HTPC software available for windows. Now that my setup is working perfectly Im very happy with the result. It does absolutely everything I could want it to.
