Out of curiosity, what has everyone's (non-dev) experience been with the new TV-engine build so far?

I know it's beta. I tried it out and I couldn't get it just right. No biggie. I really don't need the server/client aspect yet.

One of the biggest gripes is haveing to use XMLTV again. I might have stuck it out longer but I shudder at haveing to use that again.

As frodo has stated several times this is a beta, that said, don't expect stability from a beta. However, it is still interesting to see what results people are having with the current tv-server. Btw, take a look in mantis, frodo is doing some heavy bug-smashing. So if you have a bug, come forward with logs and all.

    Over and out.

I put up a little HOW-TO to get the XMLTV working while we wait for the zap2it plug-in.. you can check it out HERE Also, I have finally gotten the tv server to where it's working quite well. At one point in time I have gotten everything to work.. just not all at the same time :) My guide coming in just fine now, I can stream to clients without any problems. The only problem I am having now... is my recorded shows are not going into recorded tv once they are done. This has worked before.. so I don't know why it's not working now.... but after that... it seems to be working great for me.

brought it to work on a server/client machine but not on seperat PCs. It was my goal to watch TV on my Notebook, but I'll try it with every new SVN :).

Btw. should the basic MP 0.2 or can it be 0.2.0.4 or 0.2.1?
and a further question (maybe I should open an extra thread): How must I set up VLC to get the streams?

From what I understand, it has to be 0.2.0.0, with the latest svn (subversion build) installed on top of it.

Here's a link to the correct svn page (get the one with the most current date):
    http://svn.team-mediaportal.com/?M=...diaPortal_SVN-Snaps_based_on_V0.2.0.0_Release

And here's a link to the latest tv engine build (most current date, again):
    http://tvengine3.team-mediaportal.com/
It actually tells you on that page exactly what else you need for the tv server functionality (like mysql stuff).

Thanks for making that, but I think I'll still wait for the zap2it plugin to get updated before I test out this tv server. I'm all for debugging and making MP better but at the same time I dont want to screw with my shows and epg! Hehehe

I do not know why this xml was in my theme folders, it must have sneaked in some time ago (years?). I simply removed the file. The Latest Media Handler plugin seems to be working as expected. I've had no lock-ups.

Hi there, since I changed TV and HTPC's CPU, I'm wondering if this guide: Guide could be considered still good today, since it's been almost 13 years since then and it's still referring to a resolution of 1080p? I say this because I have a new Panasonic 4K HDR TV, and with that settings, even if I have an old Gygabyte GPU (bought...

Most (all?) small PC cases accept only ITX motherboards, which have only one PCI-E slot. So you could install only one PCI-E tuner card. A quad-tuner card would give you four tuners, but if you wanted more tuners you would need to use the TBS eight-tuner card, or use external tuners, either USB tuners (available with single or dual...

Thank you for pointing out that my analysis may be less than accurate. :p Although the change to TV channel 71 may not also have been applied to the independent radio channels (different MUXes), the logs that I prepared for one of the development team does show a difference between channel 704 ("BBC Radio 4") and channel 731...
