Great Job, but how do I go up a folder? (1 Viewer)

Just installed MP for the first time. Great job - I'm especially impressed with the documentation which is much better than even expensive kit.

Quick question. I added to folders to my Movie Folders via the configuration panel. When I started MP, I could see both folders in the My Videos menu which is good. So I selected one of the folders and watched one of the videos inside. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get back to the folder list either with the remote (Hauppauge from the PVR-150) or keyboard. Even after restarting MP it still takes me directly into that first folder I chose. I've also played with the setting in Movie Folders about remembering folders, but that did not work either. Anyone?

Thanks!

When you are in a folder, the first icon (usually a picture of an up arrow, or an elipses "...") takes you back up one level.

Once you get comfortable with the Shares view (directory browsing, like you are doing), I suggest adding your videos to the database, as the database views (like Title) lets you see everything at once, regardless of the folder it's in.

Good to see some positive feedback on the documentation. Usually we only read about the shortcomings.

I agree with milhouse, and want to add this: depending on your remote configuration, the back button might also take you up one level.

    That worked

Great, thanks for that. Going back to the shares/list view worked. I had chosen "Title" which for some reason was only showing the videos from one folder. Presumable the others didn't have the right tags or something.

With respect to the documentation, it is good. I am only trying to do very simple things (e.g., I currently don't care about DVR capability). Most impressive seems to be that virtually every check box is explained somewhere on the website and that is much appreciated. I'm sure I'll have some more questions as things progress.
