Hi Aaron. T
Thanks for your advise, I bought a Microsoft MCE remote - and I can now control MP and transmit via blaster to my sat-receiver.
I had to learn it all the codes, and I made a xml file, and put it in my IR-suite set-top box directory. So now it is possible to choose it from the drop down menu inside MP.
I will send it to you by PM (It is a Strong 8700 sat receiver, very common in Denmark)

But I have a few issues, I hope you can help me to solve:
1. I still need to choose the Microsoft remote in the remote section in the MP-configuration program- Is that correct? I thought that I shouldn't select any remote in the MP-config program - but let IR-server do its magic.

2. I can't let the computer standby anymore, it restarts immediately, But if I pull out the USB connection to the IR receiver, it can go into standby. Do you know how to fix that.

Thanks

    2. The IR receiver can be used to bring the computer out of standby. This happens when you push the power button on the MCE remote. Maybe something is transmitting this signal or there is a fault some where (MCE device, drivers, etc).

You can disable power to this USB power in standby. However, then you wont be able to use the remote to wake up.

    2. I tried to cover the IR receiver totally, but still the computer won't sleep. It restarts - when you think that now it is just at the edge to fall to sleep. Any sugestions are welcome.

What about my other question: Is it correct that I have to select microsoft remote in the MP-config program?

With IR Server Suite you should install, enable and configure the MP Control Plugin to use with your mce remote.

Make sure the device is selected in the Input Service Configuration too. And disable MediaPortal's built in MCE remote support.

As far as standby/resume problems go you should try installing MCE Standby tool and tweak the settings until you get it working properly. I once had the problem you've described. I updated the MCE remote drivers (ehome rollup, you'll find it elsewhere in the forums) and then ran MCE standby tool and fixed it up.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi, thanks for the advice.
I cant find the ehome rollup for my language (danish) and the english version won't install (wrong language for my XP - pro).
The MCE standby tool can't solve my problem.
I have tried to put it in a different USB port - no difference.
    So I'm kind of lost.

    Thanks.

I have now solved one of my problems. I did not know that you actually had to choose the MCE remote at two different places in order to use it with MP.
First you have to choose it in the "Input Service configuration", secondly you also have to choose it inside the MP-configuration tool - in the plugin section "MP control plugin". But after enabling MCE both places everything is OK.

My second problem, the reboot after standby: I changed my motherboard to an ABIT AV8, and now it doesn't reboot anymore - instead I'm unable to restart from my MCE remote. It doesn't react to any USB activity. I have enabled it in bios, and placed the jumbers on the motherboard correctly.
Do anybod know of a solution?
    Can it be the Powersuply?

    Cheers

Did you try the MCE Standby Tool with this new motherboard too? On the Devices tab, it shows the devices that can wake the PC from sleep mode. Your MCE receiver should be listed here.

If not, you can go to Control Panel - System - Device Manager. Some of the devices will have a tab 'Power management', where you can enable 'Allow this device to wake up the computer'. E.g. check the properties of your MCE receiver / remote.

I'd advice you to use the MCE Standby Tool, check if S3 is enabled properly etc.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't solve my problem.

But then I changed the powersuply and now I can start it from the remote.
I don't know why, but it seems like the old powersuply didn't provide power to the USB-port when it was in standby. But anyway now I can both go to standby and restart by the remote - that is nice.

And the IR-server suite is working beautifully, and even chaging channels on my sat-receiver (blasting) is very reliable.

    Thanks
