    Hi,

I have seen this posted by others, but see differences between my problems and theirs so have started a new thread.

I had MP working great. Timeshifting, recording, viewing all worked without issue.

MP was left last night on home screen with TV stopped. The TV was turned off but PC remained on. Nothing was changed.

This morning, on starting My TV (default enabled time shifting) I experienced a gurgling effect in the audio, followed by an obvious second or so of delay between audio and video. Video was also choppy.

Changing Codecs for audio and video didn't make any difference. Neither did changing default audio renderer to directSound.

I backed down to 2.0 which made no difference.

The first sign of any trouble was a few days ago when I tried other skins (distributed with 2.0). Only in preview pane, there was a little jerking of video only, which reverted to normal when viewing fullscreen.

This may or may not be related, as it was only with two of the skins and not with MCE or BlueTwo.

Pause and unpause in timeshift does not fix it.

Starting without timeshift and enabling later does not fix it.

Updating audio drivers did not fix it.

I have also just reallised that this happens when recording as well, so that means that MP has failed for me! (cry)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Chris

I know it's stupid but have to ask, have you rebooted system to see if any improvement.
Anything else, you may have installed/uninstalled as well, or other settings altered beside MP.

Video/Audio sync can be a real pig to pin down.

Recommend using default codecs for troubleshooting, or at least the same suppliers codecs.

How's the TV in the Hauppage software play.

    I have a solution (I think).

I was using on-board sound (realtek).

Installed an old SBLive, disabled onboard sound and re-seated TV cards, I now have no timeshifting issues.

I would guess that the issue was the soundcard and not the TV cards, because the cards worked fine with other applications, so must be something to do with MP and its use of sound hardware.

What I can't work out is why it happened in the middle of the night, but I don't really care now as it is working.

    :) :)

Funny realy because in my last PC, the SBlive was a nightmare and wouldn't sync with anything without ACPI disabled (chipset issue).

Sorry Ray, must have posted at the same time as you :)

    Thanks for suggestions.

TV was OK in all other applications, although the Hauppage software stinks ;)

Other applciation that came with the Terratec dual card was Power Cinema, and it was working without a hitch as well.

I can only think that it was as I said above, an issue with the onboard sound or perhaps badly seated card(s).

    All sorted for now....

    Thanks,
    Chris

    It's Back!

    Arrrrgh!

So I thought I had sorted it out, but my timeshifting and recording woes are back.

It is now not as bad as it was, and sometimes not noticable, but after time it either becomes more noticable or it gets worse.

    Extra info:
*I am a little low on space on my only drive (16% remaining) and defrag would not touch a lot of the files. Maybe safr mode might fix this.

*Viewing pre-recorded or recorded TV from before the problem occured is not a problem.

*Viewing TV with no recording or timeshifting is not a problem.

*Replacing onboard sound with a dedicated PCI card did help a lot... but not completely

*There is no sync problem any more, just stumbling picture and audio

*Recording now fails in the middle of a show. This is random.

I have a large drive with better specs arriving any moment, and I have also shelled out for a dedicated GFX card (rather than on-board), maybe one of these will help.

If not, I will re-install windows on the new drive and attempt to get it working from scratch.

Please, if anyone can think of any reason that this could be happening, let me know.

    Thanks,
    Chris
