Hi guys,

I'm getting a little frustrated here.... I can't seem to get MP to play the few HD-live tv channel that are aired on my cable. Where 720p MKV's just play like a charm and regular tv is also, the live tv just doesn't play right. There are lots of discolourations, artifects, stutters and sound that's really off-sync with the picture. I've tried all the big codecs: MPC, ffdshow, ffdshow dxva, PDVD10, MS, CoreAVO, DivX,......

The strange thing is, that the same codec I use to playback 720p tv-series doesn't work with live tv...

Am I missing something here?

Appreciate some help! thanks!

    What hardware is this on?

I am guessing the signal is interlaced and the hardware is struggling so it is not a codec at all

    My config:

    AMD Athlon 64X2 5200+
    3,0Gb memory
    Ati radeon HD3450
    Win7x86 home
    Latest version of MP

There are just 3 HD-channels, dutch national TV 1,2 and 3.

I do not know the Dutch TV details but I would imagine it is similar to the rest of Europe and transmissions are 1080i. If this is the case I am sure the issue is simply that your ATI 3450 is not up to de-interlacing at that resolution. I used to have a 3650 which only just about coped with some SD de-interlacing.

Not what you want to hear but I think the only real option for smooth playback is a new graphics card :(

sure, that's not what i want to hear, but if that's the thing, i have something for Santa ;-). But what keeps on bothering me: I have a dualboot with Win7x86 ultimate. The same channels with the same tv-card and the same graphic card work flawless with windows mediacenter with PDVD9 codec. I can't stand the idea that MS is better in any way than MP ;-)

What card do you suggest to use? It has to be low profile and passive cooled, because of my antec fusion casing.....

I had problems with HD live TV, too. I changed the GPU to a NVIDIA GT430 (fanless), and the problems are gone.
I'm using the PDVD10 Codec (with SAF by Hoborg))
