After the fix in 15067 for the stuttering H264 playback problem my H264 chan (SVT HD 720p) gets cut in half and only the left portion of the image is displayed as a 4:3 chan.

If i go back to a version before this fix the problem goes away and i tried with a few different codecs aswell just to be sure.

I haven't had any time to play with this lately but just upgraded to the latest svn (15568) and it's still there on both live and recorded tv, the records look fine in vlc.

Going through the logs im assuming this si the problem

I'm new with mediaportal and just installed a SVN for the first time because everything was working fine for me on my new htpcsystem so I wanted to test MP's latest version.
But the first HD I tested (had not tested it on my new system before actually), a 1080p, h264, .ts Apocalypto Blu-Raydisk sample file gave me a gray screen for the bottom 1/3 of the screen and the rest of the screen was just made up of rectangular little "stripes" (you could see if it was a dark scene or not, nothing more). It does not matter if I choose in MP CoreAVC or FFDshow for decoding, both give the same result.
The DD5.1 AC3 SP/DIF sound was good though. Im WMP the file plays with good sound but with video that leaves artifacts in the black colors, which are not totally black... MPC does not play the file with any video but here you can switch the audio from AC3 to LPCM with the haali media splitter. This splitter cannot be accessed/is not started when I play the file in WMP.

I have installed:
Vista Ultimate
NVidia 7300

MP 0.2.3.0 RC1
SVN from 17-08
Haali Media Splitter
latest FFDshow tryouts
Media Player Classic
CoreAVC (apparently...is this codec packed in the latest MP version?)
Graphedit

Can anyone help me with the right parameters for Haali media splitter, ffdshow CoreAVC and/or Mediaportal? I can't seem to get it working... If someone has it working ok, could you let me/us know your setup? Or maybe somebody knows what I have to change to make it work? If more info is needed please let me know. All help is very much appreciated! :)

i can confirm that issue. also occurs here on all Astra 19.2°E dvb-s2 channels.

it is a bug inside coreavc since it also occurs when you build a plain graph in graphedit and use VMR9 as video-renderer.

if you use overlay as video-renderer, all is fine.

    ::more here::

seems that it doesnt like something inside the broadcasted dvb-s2 stream. downloaded h.264 files are played without any issues.

    Hi,

I have been busy with this problem for some days now and just found this thread. Good to know I'm not alone.

I am also seeing the problem: H264 HD TV content is getting cut down to 720x576 in Media Portal. I use TV server (latest SVNversion) and have recorded some HD H264 streams (Film 1 HD, Netherlands). When I watch the stream in MediaPortal the video resolution is chopped to 720x576.

However, when I load the recorded Film1 HD TS File into graphedit and play it I see the full 1280x720 resolution. The TS file also plays fine in Media Player Classic and MS Media Player 11.

Thefore my consclusion is that MediaPortal (and/or it's TS reader) are somehow not reading the TS file correctly. I have used the c:\useTSreader.txt to see if this made any difference. Unfortunatly it does not.

I tested further with FFDshow (libavcodec) and used it's onscreen info. When I play from graphedit, MPC or WM11, I see the following info on screen:

    input description: AVC1 (libavcodec H264)
    Input size & ratio: 1280x720, SAR: 1/1, DAR 16/9
    Output description: YV12,adj

However, when played from within MediaPortal (with recorded TV or with My Videos) I see the following on screen:

    input description: RGB32 (uncompressed)
    Input size & ratio: 720x576, SAR: 1/1, DAR 5/4
    Output description: YV12,adj

I hope somebody can use this info to solve this unfortunate issue. I have added the logs (short and nice, for a short MP session, opening the HD channel)

    Thanks for this fantastic program,

    Luke

as i have posted above that works because it uses overlay and not VMR9

this is a bug in coreavc which is allready confirmed by the developers of coreavc.
just read the thread i linked in my post above ;)

    Thanks Infinityloop.

I now understand that FFDshow is using coreavc to decode the H264 stream.....

Update: I just installed Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra and used it's H264 codec to successfully view the H264 Film1 HD Channel.

    Cheers,

    Luke

    No workaround?

    Hi Chris,

do I understand it correctly that there is no workaround for the problem and that we just have to wait for CoreAVC to fix the issue?
