Hi, I have a Dell Optiplex GX260 as my HTPC (i will put some piccies up soon) and everything is running well, the only thing id like to improve is HDTV. I am running the Compro DVB-T300 which supports HDTV, but I think the Video card is letting me down. See the specs in the bottom of my post...

What half height AGP card with TV (composite) out woould you recommend?

PS. Ive been monitoring the CPU usage while watching HDTV in MP and in the compro software...I dont think the 2.0ghz is an issue

What video decoder are you using?

I have tried many different ones, and the only one that gives good results on HDTV is the Zulu one supplied with my Dvico DVB-T card. My guess would be that your video decoder is the culprit.... :(

right, can i download that legally and seperately? or do i have to download a whole swag of fusion software and trash my machine?
You would have to download the whole application and install it to get the Zulu decoders - but I am not sure that would work - it probably looks for a Dvico card as part of the install process....

Does the TV application that comes with your Compro DVB-T300 display HDTV OK? If so, does it include a DirectShow video decoder that you can select from within MediaPortal?

Which video decoders have you already tried so far with HDTV?

I assume that you are using the video out that is built in to the Dell motherboard - do you know what chip it is?

BTW, if you are outputting the video via composite connection to your TV, then you are not going to get any benefit from HDTV, so I wouldn't waste any time or money on it..... :(

i didnt know composite would lose quality...i may as well give up then.

the video card is an ATI 9250 and yes, the compro hdtv codec play OK, but not 1080i only 728i. i know i need to upgrade but i was just wishing.
