I understand the that the Server/Client setup streams all video from the server to the client so is there any reason to have a harddrive on the client machine any larger than needed to install XP and MediaPortal? I currently have a P4 server machine in the office with a 2 x 500 Gb Raid 0 media drive and would like to use an older PIII machine with 40 Gb drive for a client to attach my tv to. Will a PIII 1 Ghz w/256Mb Rambus machine or PIII 650 Mhz w/384 DDR machine with 40 Gb HDD and 128 graphics card be sufficient as a client for the server/client setup? Thanks for any input.

As you said both the recordings and streaming files are stored on the server so unless you want to store anything on the client, 40GB should be more than enough.
Should be possible to boot without a HDD at all aswell, afraid I won't be able to help with that.

I think a PIII 1000/650 MHz could be too slow for a S/W based card, it's definitely less than the stated requirements.
