    Hi all
    I'm a new one
I studied a lot before attempting my first HTPC creation, right now I'm studying how to set up properly the system.
Obviously I have lot of question...
The first I want to submit to you is this one:
Can I configure MP to be controlled by Hauppage remote coming with my TV card (I guess I do) to control MP?
Can I configure MP to accept a second remote imput to be used when I'm playing PC games?
I mean, when I whant to play, I switch on my remote game pad and MP understand that, in that situation, this remote should be used. When I switch it off, the Hauppage remote come back to his work. Is it possible?
I sow that Daemon tools is no longer free, can I use Virtual Clone Drive to start my game iso collected on my HD?

Thanks a lot to anyone would answer me.
Sorry for my english I'm trying to do my best to be understandeable.

    Take care

    Hi,
If i think what you are trying to acheive is correct then yes you can.
I use IRSS (IR server suite) for my Harmony one to control MP.
I also use a little program called Xpadder for my Xbox360 style pc gamepads for my PC games. This works really well.
Just google Xpadder and you will find it.

    Regards

    Kev

    Thank you for your suggestions.
What about Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows, it works with XP too.
May be it should be easier to set up.
Do you think I should use Xpadder even in this case?

    I'm back again.
I see you have in your system Hauppage Nova T 500 as I do.
Why don't you use the hauppage remote instead of the Harmony one?
In Media Portal configuration - User config files - Remote the hauppage remote is there ready to be mapped.
Is there something I should know?

    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
I use Xpadder as it can hold different configurations for different games and is a great piece of software. It can customize any buttons required for any game really.
Without Xpadder it is difficult to setup a game that doesnt support the standard "Games for windows" etc
I dont use the Hauppage remote as that is only for the card and winTV etc.
I use my remote to controll my whole system which includes TV, amplifier, LED lighting etc etc. So the hauppage would be useless for this for me.

    Regards

    Kevin

    Understood!
    Downloaded Xpadder.
I'll try first to use a wireless pad designed for PS2 I'm already using.
I'll just buy an adapter PS2 USB.
The hauppage remote for MP (controlling video-TV-audio-Photo-Radio-Browser?!? I guess is enough to me.

    Thank you.
I'm receiving all the parts I'll put togheter, I hope, this weekend.
As soon as I'm ready to start I'll let you know System Spec and first configuration attempt.

    All done!
    Not that simple but done.
Last MediaPortal version, Vista Home Premium 32, Other spec later.
Right now my tv is working fine (HD partition dedicated to recorded tv)
    My weather is ok
My music is ok (even I do not like that much) (all audio file are stored in a HD) Do not like so much because used to software like Songbird or Jaangle.
My videos is OK (all DVD, are stored in two separate HD, First for movie I'll never stop watching, second for new movies, last two years)
my personal video, all edited by Pinnacle Studio in dvd format are stored in a separate partition of another HD, Other format videos stored in a separate partition of same HD)
In this way accessing my video I retreive four separate folder, two for DVD (Best ever and Current), one for personal video production (family, holidays ect) the last for other video formats usually Documentary, registred tv shows, sport events etc.
My Online Videos is almost Ok (I still receive audio codec error from some "Channel")
My Stream Radio I had some problem - uninstalled - but Radiotime is working fine.

All controlled by Hauppauge 45 remote.
I tryed to set Xpadder to play with PC games using my remote PS2 joypad it seems to work but I still have to figure out how to start games from Media Portal, How to store game icons (launchers) in Media Portal because I whant to use MP allways in full screen mode, starting at window start. (in other words I do not whant to see a PC desktop)

    One single question:
is there a way to modify the "sesibility" of hauppauge remote?
I'll try to explain the problem: often pushing a button looks like i pushed it twice or going up and down a list is difficut to stop on the line I whant or choosing a radio station or any other icon in a row is sometime difficult (I have to go back and forward to center the icon I whant)

    Hope to be clear enough
    Waiting for kind suggestions

    Later I'll describe system specifications.

This is probably similar to what you are looking for.

As for the remote, I'm guessing you installed powerDVD which can have its own remote detection running which you have to disable, its called PDVD9Serv.exe for power dvd 9, but I think earlier additions it was pdvdremctrl or something like that. If you bring up the task list you should be able to identify it and kill the process. Then you have to edit one of the start-up files or the registry to stop it loading on start-up.

    Thank you for the suggestion
    Looks awesome... i'll try it.

Yes... I'm using PowerDVD9 (still problems trying to play .mts files with PowerDVD inside MediaPortal without loosing the possibility to control it by remote) I think I should be able to find and kill the process, ...no way to me "to edit one of the start-up files or the registry to stop it loading on start-up" (kindly waiting for a kik in the ass)

Moreover I bought an Harmony One (Logitech) and right now I'm trying to set it up for my needs.

Instead of boring you all, writing down all the spec of my system, I've inserted them in my profile.

As a newcomer I'm trying to do my best to setup a software that promises to be the best solution available.

    Thank to you all
