i can see the little remote at the bottom where the clock is in windows but when i start MP it goes anyway.

The windows util is only necessary to get mp to recognise the remote is there on setup, once mp is setup it can be done away with if u like, never made much diff except occasional error mesgs.
found removing all key definitions for other haup remotes from the hauppauge.xml file made a huge difference in reliability of this remote if u need i can post a copy of the altered file.
