I'm in the process of planning my first HTPC and my primary goal is to be able to record Foxtel and one or two Digtal FTA channels at the same time plus being able to play BluRay originals which I understand is also possible using AnyDVD or PowerDVD or a plugin.. Not a great hassle if I have to launch a third-party application.

Reading this link: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/completed-htpc-projects-61/mp-hvr-1300-foxtel-digital-aus-24042/ it definately sounds possible using MediaPortal but I am having trouble finding a 1300 card for a reasonable price.

Would a 2200 do the same job, given I can easily find this card as I also believe the 2200 has an S-Video input also?

The rest of the hardware I am currently considering is as follows:
  • AMD 4850e CPU
  • Asus M3N78-EM Motherboard
  • 4gb DDR2 800 Ram - I had this left over from a recent upgrade to my 'gaming machine'
  • Lian Li Black PC-C37B Case
  • LG GGC-H20L Black Blu-Ray Optical Drive

I'd also appreciate any feedback on the hardware if you have it.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

My understanding of the HVR1300 is that it can use the digital or analogue tuners, but not both at the same time. It is a hybrid tuner, whereas I think you need a dual tuner (or two separate tuners).

    Best wishes,

    Hi zoddy

Both are dual tuners, think the 1300 is now obsolete because of the HVR 2200, which is also 2 tuners with a twist, they can be either dvb-t or analogue, so you can have 2 dvb-t tuners or 2 analogue tuners or even 1 of each which is what you need.

These have to be enabled in MP as hybrid tuners, so far as I can find out, you need to install MP1.0 and then upgrade to MP1.0.1 for this to work using TVServer, the inbuilt TVEngine does not support hybrid cards.

The up coming 1.0.2 release should allow a new install and detect this card (unconfirmed)

Thank you both very much for your replies, it is appreciated.

Does Mediaportal allow for the hybrid cards to use an analogue and digital tuner at the same time? Eg: Record FTA Digital and Foxtel (PayTV) Analogue?
Or would I need a second tuner for this setup - ie: dedicated analogue tuner for pay tv?

    Hi zoddy

Both are dual tuners, think the 1300 is now obsolete because of the HVR 2200, ....

A rather old thread but I have a little correction to some of the posted facts :sorry: (for those who are googling this topic).
My HVR-1300 is not a dual tuner. It has 1 hybrid-tuner that supports either analogue, DVB-T or FM radio - not at the same time.

    Regards Michael
