hey guys, got a hauppauge 150 mce edition and the remote keeps giving me the failed to initialise ir remote device error. SO the remote wont work in MP. I had it working yesterday and this morning, but now no go. I tried new drivers, then uninstalling and going back to the original drivers to no avail. Any one else with the same troubles? any solutions?

I've got a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150MCE as well which came with the Hauppauge MCE USB Remote and IR Blaster.

I'm running 0.2 patched MP on

- XP Home SP2 with all updates
- Athlon AMD 1.4 Ghz
- ATI Radeon 9550 256Mb
- Soltek 75drv motherboard with Via chipset & latest drivers/bios
- 1 Gb DDR Ram
- using on-board VIA AC97 sound so far
- 7200spm 20Gb boot drive with OS
- dedicated 64K block formated video drive 7200rpm 160Gb

I initally was having the same problems as you and it's been a pain to get it working, but at least now Device Manager shows the remote is working ok but MP won't automatically recognize this remote as an MCE remote.

SO I installed HIP and tried that and now I have it partially working, but am having huge troubles making anything other than the arrow buttons and the OK button working in MP.

Plus even though I think I've tried to make HIP learn my set top box's remotes, I can't seem to figure out how to get MP to change channels on my Motorola set top box for my satellite cable (SkyTV New Zealand). The USB IR blaster is set up I think, but it doesn't appear to be working when I use MP or HIP.

I also tried the MP Plugin "Motorola serial cable controller" because my set top box has a serial cable plug, but that didn't work either to change channels.

I'm at my wits end with this Hauppauge MCE remote, I'm beginning to think that it doesn't fully work except in MCE...???

Other than that I love MP, I've tried SageTV, BeyondTV, GBPVR, Got All Media, and this is the best with the coolest features and the best interface.

However I am still wonder how to best set up the video so that it looks the best?? Does MP support hardware MPEG from the PVR150? Sage's video looked a bit better (but what a clunky slow interface with believe it or not NO one-touch recording).

I too would like lots of help in the definitive way to properly set up ALL the buttons on the Hauppauge MCE PVR150 remote and getting it to control my settip box via it's usb ir blaster...

Apparently the Hauppauge IR drivers and apps are not meant for this MCE type remote, just their other proprietary remotes...

Any ideas anyone?

I would like to ressurrect this thread as i too am confused as to how to get the Hauppauge MCE version remote IR blaster to work such that MP can control my settop box.

Have the posters of two messages below managed to get theirs working....?

In MP i have selected the 'MCE' remote - should i have selected Hauppauge? I can't find an IRblaster program for the MCE version remote on the Hauppauge website either.

Am reluctant to install HIP as i don't believe it's needed. I thought i could set it up via the 'USBUIRT' configuration in MP Setup - but no...

Any ideas?
