I am trying to fill out the above, but a lot of what it asks for is beyond me, or how to figure it out. :(

I recently bought a Hauppauge 150PVR MCE tv card and it just arrived today. It installed great, and Media Portal appeared to pick up things with ease. My problem is, the primary reason for buying the card was so I could play console games. The house currently only has one television that is shared by multiple family members. This card was a cheaper alternative to a television which I cannot really afford at this moment.

It took a while but I finally got the Playstation video to come through. It is somewhat blurry though when I go to full screen in Media Portal. Aside from this, I have lag between the controls and the game, and is my primary concern at the moment. When I go to move my character, it does not respond for a few seconds.

This had been brought up before in another thread, but honestly it just made me more confused.

Has anyone successfully made their ps2 work with Media Portal through the tv tuner card? I have searched all I can, I don't know if I am not typing in the proper search terms or what. I did try though.

If anyone knows what might be the issue, I would greatly appreciate it. The card has RCA ports on the back (I believe that's what they are called?), and is hardware based. I had hoped that would counter any lag I would assume comes from a card that relies on cpu processing.

    Hi

This question has been asked a number of times, and unfortunately for you there is no solution. The PVR function on the Hauppauge is exactly what is causing your delay. To allow the PVR functionality (reverse & forward etc) the card buffers the input, causing the delay that you are experiencing.

    Sorry for the bad news...

    Cheers

    Hi,
chopstix, you could try to turn of Timeshift when using PS2 (In TV Home you have that option on the left side menu), haven't tested that here, but maybe some of the lag goes away.

the 150 is a hardware encoder
the lag (~2 secs) comes from the card's onboard encoder

you can turn off the hardware encoding by changing a value in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\hauppauge\winTVwnd and change the livepreview key to 1

    may work
but I've never tried it personally (don't own any consoles ;) )

    *edit*
also, I think you'll need to use dscaler to read the unprocessed video feed

    Hello, i would like to play my playstation2 over my PC monitor. I have a tuner card called Pinnacle "PCTV 300i PAL DVB-T Capture Device". I connected it via a Koaxial-Antenna-Cable (PAL G) and tried channel 36. Its just not working neither in Media Center nore in MediaPortal. o.o;; In NeroVisionXPress i get a pic without probs (besides deinterlace doesnt work. v,v) but this is not really ment to be a viewer, lol Any suggestions? o_o;

I wonder that you get a picture at all with your DVB-T card with a analog input signal - if you wouldnt have mentioned it i would have written its not possible. Should the DVB-T hardware not be totally different to analog devices?

    Chopstix,

Ynot's suggestion is probably the solution to your problem. I have the HVR-1300 from Hauppauge (also Hardware-deocded) and had the same problem with my Xbox. The people at Hauppauge gave the exact same solution and it works perfectly (I guess it disables the buffer of the MPEG-decoder talked about above).
