Hi guys,

I have an issue with the Hauppauge remote and a strange one indeed. The remote will occasionally work within MP or not at all but in MP's config the remote learning will see every button with ease.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Neil.

    Hi Neil

From another report I have seenin last two days, is there a possiblity that some other application takes focus away from mediaportal, ie using a external player, because it seems once done, focus with remote working never come back to MP :(

    Welcome to MP

Hi Ray, thank you for your reply.

Darn it, looks like I'll have to either find the program or do a rebuild. I think it could be WinTv, as I installed that first by mistake, but uninstalled later. I'll do a fresh rebuild it will be much quicker lol.

    Cheers

An update which may help others who are having the same problems.

After deciding to make a fresh install of XP and MP I soon discovered the remote still didn't work in MP. After reading articles and posts on other forums I soon realised it may be the plasma TV interfering with the infrared bandwidth for the remote. Some suggested to place masking tape over the IR on the TV, but I have found a better solution.

The IR for the remote was placed on the front of the TV so I decided to place the IR, with blue tack, on the side at the top. And bingo it now works. Strange or what. :)

    Hi,
I have just loaded up MP to my HTPC running with two Hauppauge Nova S2's with one of them connecting to the IR receiver. The Hauppauge remote works perfectly in MP, bar one major issue. I have an Onkyo SR-608 receiver, and when ever i use the Onkyo remote to change volume or change encoding mode, the Hauppauge IR picks it up. Thus changing channel or in worse cases exiting MP. This also occurs with my LG TV remote and Varilight remote. (Basically ever IR remote i have). Is there a way to change the remotes the IR receiver picks up?

    Thanks in advance,
    Zac

    Hi zacg

    Welcome to the forum! :D
It sounds like some of your remotes have some key codes in common - perhaps they're all RC5. The remotes generate the key codes, so I don't think there is anything *technical* that you can do to resolve this unless you can tweak the remotes somehow. The best thing I can suggest is just common sense. Put as much distance as possible between the Hauppauge IR receiver and the Onkyo receiver. Probably not what you wanted to hear; sorry...

Thanks for the quick reply MM:D
I might have a look into purchasing another remote, like the Logitech Harmony.
