Hi,

I have just put together my first HTPC and have chosen to use media portal. I have installed a Hauppauge Nova-t 500 PCI dual HD tv card which according to device manager has installed with no driver conflicts. i can't however get Media Portal to recognize the card? It hangs for a while during start up (waiting for TV?) then eventually loads with no 'My TV' menu option. Could someone please explain how to set-up the card.

Thanks

:D

Are you using WinXP\Vista, version 1.0.2 of Mediaportal installer should be used, not the alpha release.
Have a got a desktop icon called TV-Server Configuration !!, this is for the TV side of MP to work and should be configured first.

The more information you can give us the better :)

Thanks Ray, I'm sure I have installed the correct version of mediaportal (MediaPortal_1.0.2_setup.exe) as i have the TV server config Icon but I'm unsure of what this does or how to set it up? It's asking for a username and password to an SQL database?
I'm running WinXP SP3 MCE (decided to give mediaportal a try as I couldn't get Media Center to function correctly)
    Hope this helps?

    Thanks

Name is "sa", password is "MediaPortal", watch the spelling :)

    TV-Server/config-TV-Server-first-start - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

Have a look at above, because there are a few quirks with the T500, especially after a resume from suspend, you need some specific settings enabled, the main one is delay server from detecting tv cards, this needs to be set at 20 seconds, this is under the tvserver config\general tab.

Thanks so much Ray, got caugt out by an upper case 'P' All working fine now, slowly getting to grips with the software configurations. Will set that delay. :D

    Hi,

If you are using XP SP3 with the Nova-t 500 card, you should be aware that there are problems, including blue screen hangs. This is all very well documented on the Hauppauge forums. Just a heads-up, as I had to revert to XP SP2 (and eventually upgrade to Vista) with this card.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Thanks Mark, I installed the latest drivers from hauppauge, so we'll see how we go. i'll check out the forums and see where they're up to on this one.

    Cheers
