Hey Guys,

I'm new to this Board. My native language is german. So in advance sorry for any faults in grammer or spelling.
Today I get my Nova-T USB2 and the whole evening was awful trying to get this module work.
Ok. First I tried to get it working with the predelivered drivers. Later I noticed that they were very old. So I changed to the new version from the Hauppauge Homepage. Next I tried to start this weird Program "WinTV2000". There was no chance for me to get it working without freezig all the time and a high CPU usage.
I tried around six hours to fix that... updating graphic cards drivers and usb drivers. Then I found the hint to use the inclosed application"Primary" from Hauppage where I can change the video display mode. Defaultly "Allow VMR" was enabled. I changed it to "Allow Overlay". And wow it works with WinTV2000 and cpu usage was low. So... the hardware caused not the problem.
The remaining problem follows:
I switched the codecs in MediaPortal setup to the Hauppauge ones. But when starting Mediaportal it crashes with a windows fault. Other Codecs were allways slow. I tried the standard Codecs and the Codec from Cyberlink. Do I have to enable them to use Video-Overlay, too? Where can I do this?
Do you have other recommendations?

Hi

I have a Hauppauge Nova-T PCI card and is using the "DScaler MPEG2 Video Decoder" codec. Some other codecs was causing some "ghosting" on the TV. This was especially a problem when I was waching football matches.

i've seen in the mediaportal wiki that you can select video overlay on the television tab.
please help me. i want my little mediaportal working :-(

So here are the last questions, perhabs the last questions before i solve everything by myself. so please help. i spend 12 hours now for this problems
ok, the question:
why i can`t select a Video Renderer in the version 0.2.0 rc 4?
and why in version 0.2.0 rc 2 not anything else then VMR7 or 9? i thin i need overlay.

Newer versions were designed to support only VMR9 as overlay was too old for what MP needed done. It didnt support enough things (transparency was one) so it was dropped.

Reason its not working properly is because the Via board you have uses a UniChrome video chipset. That doesnt support VMR9 properly and from other users experience they are a very poor solution. If you want more info do a search on Via.

ok. thank you very much. thats not the answer i wanted to hear, but i've found an alternate program called showshifter. looks not as good as mediaportal but it's stable and do not need such extreme power as mediaportal.
i wonder why they can get it running with timeshifting feature on not so powerfull computers with old graphic cards like mine.
i think thats a big disadvantage of the new mediaportal versions for most mini-itx computers which are very practical in their design for use in a tv-room.
maybe i will come back later when they have developed more powerfull mini-itx systems.
