Hi

Is the best page with instructions on how to set up the Hauppauge remote
control with Portal at
MediaPortal/Configuration/Remote/Hauppauge - MediaPortal Manual Documentation
or is there a batter link?

In MediaPortal Configuration I tried to set up the remote. However, it indicated I did not have the drivers. However, the computer technician who set up my computer said he installed the drivers and I did a search and found the folder at C:\Hauppauge\WinTV 7 CD where there were drivers installed. However, the page at MediaPortal/Configuration/Remote/Hauppauge - MediaPortal Manual Documentation
states I need to have IR32.exe installed. I could not find it in a Windows search. Is there anything else I need to install?
Do I simply run IR32.exe and should it install in the correct location?

I have Windows XP Home edition.

Your help would be appreciated
Regards Richard.

    The instructions state to

    1. install the latest drivers
    2. install IR32.exe (just run the file and it will install the components for you)

This will ensure you have the correct drivers installed.

    Once thats done:

    reboot the machine,

    start Mediaportal Config,

    go to Remote/Hauppauge section

click on Use Hauppauge Remote so that its ticked

    Click OK to close config

Start Mediaportal and test remote. (Try all of the buttons).

    Hi

    Thanks for the letter.

I assume that I would have all the necessary drivers apart from the one for the remote because I found the folder at C:\Hauppauge\WinTV 7 CD where there were drivers installed.

So I would just run IR32.exe for a start and see how that goes. If it does not work after the other steps that you suggest, then I could install the other drivers that should override what I already have.

Is that what you would suggest?

    Your help is appreciated,
    Regards Richard.

No. What I suggested was that you install the latest drivers (ie, from the Hauppauge web site). I dont know whats in the folder on your hard disk, and at this stage whatever you have is not working. Whatever you have there could be out of date, corrupt, incorrectly installed, wrong version for your OS, or any number of things that are contributing to the issue. To ensure that your drivers are both current and correct, please obtain the latest drivers from the manufacturer web site and install them.

    Hi

My Hauppauge card is working and has been for a while. It is only the remote control that I am now only trying to set up. So I thought that would mean that the computer technician must have installed the drivers correctly. I assume that he would have installed them off the CD that came with the card. It is just that they appear to have not installed the remote control driver.

So if it will not do any harm I thought I would just run the IR32.exe for a start as that may be easier than installing all the drivers which may require uninstalling what I have first. Could it do any harm if I just run the IR32.exe for a start to see how that goes?

    Your help is appreciated
    Regards Richard.
