Hi there, I've just managed to get my WinTV Nova-T 500 running fine, many thanks to audiodigital and his/her fine fine post. The only issue that remains it the remote. I've installed all the drivers and the full WinTV2000 suite for what it's worth. The remote works in WinTV2000, however the IR32 application will not load ever (if you run it from the program directory you receive error "Failed to initialize infrared remote hardware")

Some buttons do work, namely the numbers, navigation keys and "OK" - these also work in windows generally and in WinTV (in WinTV the Vol+/Vol-, Ch+/Ch- also work but that's it)

I've checked "Use Hauppauge remote" in Media Portal Setup, but still only the above mentioned buttons work. I would also note that IR32 has never loaded, and I don't know if this is normal but I have a safely remove hardware icon for the remote all of the time.

If anyone could offer any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    the IR32 has not to be run. MP supports the Hauppauge remote natively through the driver.

    But since there is also a problem with the IR32 running you should try reinstalling the software drivers. Also give those drivers a shot. Install these over your current installation.

    Your log only shows infos from running Configuration. Please turn on "extended logging" for the remote and run MP.
    Configure->Remote->Hauppauge

    You may also ask in a forum of Hauppauge, since this does not seem to be a full MP problem.

    HTH,
    Flip.

    Hi there, I think you're right, I don't think this is an MP issue. It would appear that windows has taken control of the remote and therefore no other program can take control. A little playing about reveals that it works perfectly for iTunes, WMP or WinTv. This is because they all use default commands for play, pause, forward etc.

    This would explain the limited functionality in MP and the inability of IR.exe to start.

    Thanks for your suggestion, but I think the best course of action is to call Hauppauge.

    Many thanks,

    J

    I suspect it's no Hauppauge remote, but an MCE remote. That's why some buttons work. Enable MCE remote in MP's config and be happy... (I guess)

    Irremote.exe doesn't run with those remotes, btw. (strong indicator)
