I'm having problems with getting HD to play correctly at clients. SD works perfectly fine. So what happens is; When I try to view Any HD channel I get audio but no video signal. I'm mainly running CCCP with a few minor adjustments, although i've tried the base package aswell. Aswell as not showing any video it goes to a "soft"hang where I can exit by alt-f4 and move the mouse, but I can't click on any buttons nor can i use the keyboard to do anything else (like browse menus).

To me it feels like a codec issue, but i was hoping you could have a look at the logs and either confirm or debunk this. Any help is appreciated.

Edit:

Solved. Was indeed a problem with the codec. Coreavc just didn't do it for me, changed to powerdvd 9 and it worked just fine. Feel free to move this to codec subforum as it seems way more appropiate.

I seem to be having the same problem here.

I've just set up a second PC (slightly "fun" setup involving two tv servers and so on...) but anyway - SD channels are fine, HD channels (well, BBC HD as it's the only one I have that's showing anything...) gives a black screen, but I DO get sound.

I looked in the logs (attached and couldn't really see anything, although the evr log suggests it has worked out the correct image size (1440x1080).

I don't have a BR drive in this machine to test other HD content, although BR Rips (as .mkv) are playing back fine, with hardware acceleration.

    Any clues?

I'm using the same chipset (although a different motherboard) on the machine downstairs and that works ok...

If I remember correctly I solved this by using another codec for h.264 content inside MP. The one I'm currently using is powerdvd 9. I tried to look for a proper free alternative, but there's not really much to choose from. You can try looking at doom9 forums for alternatives, or.. I belive the codec thread stickied here has a "workaround" to get the pdvd codec for free.

Edit: Actually, if you see my edit of my main post you'll see I had already discussed the solution.

Hi, sorry for being slow coming back on this.

I saw you mentioned about codec's but I'm not sure it's my problem - I am using the same codec (PDVD 7) as I am on the downstairs machine where it works, and in addition, the upstairs machine plays back HD MKV/MP4 files, and the same codec is selected for the playback of those.

Interestingly, I tried playing BBC HD again just now, got the black screen with no audio, and after that, none of my MKV's would play, they gave a codec error (h.264/aac or mpeg2, varies)

I quit MP, went back in, and they then played fine again!?

    Errr

A little more info on this one: I just downgraded catalyst to the same version as the downstairs PC (9.4 instead of 9.7 I think) and the problem remains. However, I do get a picture on ITV HD, just not BBC HD?!
