    Hi,
about a week ago i upgraded from 1.0 to 1.02. Since then I have noticed a couple of problems...
    1. When I answer yes to the resume playback from X:X question play back actually starts from the beginning of the (previously watched) program if the program is HD, SD programs are fine.
    2. Some HD programs can not be deleted. I get an error saying that the file can not be deleted and the log file shows that the file is in use by another program.

    So my questions are:
    1. Has anyone else seen the above?
    2. What is the best way to do a clean install of 1.02 *without* losing all of my settings. Should I use the settings backup plugin? should I delete the DB when I install

The reason I'm asking about the fresh install is that I noticed that I have some files in the Vista VirtualStore directory for Media Portal and I was wondering if they could be related to my problems....

    Thanks

    Andy

PS If this problem is new and logs will be of use then let me know and I'll upload them...

The only real clean install *will* lose your settings. Write them down if you don't remember them all before going trough uninstall option 3 from control pannel.

This can be a part of the issue. Using above option 3 during uninstall, you shouldn't find anything in VirtualStore after a reboot.

    Hi Simone.
Many thanks for the reply. Ok so I've now done a clean install (using option 3 in the uninstall to remove everything). After doing the uninstall I checked and the VirtualStore contained no MP items. However after installing 1.02 and starting the TV server config, MP config and finally MP I checked again now in the VirtualStore I have entries in both the Program Files and Program Data parts of the VirtualStore. Both of these are for Media Portial (not for the TV server). In the Program Files side I have two directories (each with files/sub dirs) these are "skin" and "xmltv" I also have a file MediaPortalConfig.exe.config. In the Program Data dir I have (again for Media Portal) Gentle.config and keymap.xml...

Note that the above list is much shorter than before (i used to have many more files in the VirtualStore), which I gues is a good thing, but it looks like msome files are still being created in VirtualStore even after a clean install...

    But now the good news!
    1. My problem with resuming HD content from the previous viewing point seems to be fixed. Programs now start from the correct point...
    2. I think I may have found at little more about what is going on wiht not being able to delete some HD files. I think it may have something to do with the auto thumbnail option. I noticed that I didn't seem to have thumbnails for HD content (BBC HD programs). So I turned off the creation of thumbnails for recorded TV option. I then restarted MP and I can now delete the file that was not able to delete before. I wonder if the thumbnail thread was getting "stuck" and was keeping the file open?

    Many thanks

    Andy
