HD-PVR Setup Guide? (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

I'm obviously a newbie to MediaPortal. My past experiences with PVR software has been MythTV and MCE. To keep this simple and short i've been trying to find a solution wiki or howto guide on setting up my hardware but haven't really succeeded. The server configuration menu is fairly straight forward but there are a lot of ambiguities I haven't been able to sort out.

First off I have a Hauppauge HD-PVR box that I just picked up. I have it connected and appears working fine. MediaPortal sees it as an analog device. Obviously I can't do a channel scan on it since that would require the use of the IR blaster to work and MP doesn't appear to know what that is. So how can I set this box up as a TV source? Am I forced to use the Hauppauge recording software and then simply hook up to the media's folder in MP? I would imagine there's got to be a way to have MP drive the whole thing but none of the threads i've seen so far describe anything like that.

I made a posting on this link a while back when I was first considering the HD PVR, and Chesh was some really great help on getting the info to me for getting this thing started. Take a look at the link and hopefully I can give you some personal input when I finally can get the HD PVR myself. Maybe there is a better tutorial?
