Hi Guys,

im using a ATI HD5750 on my Vista SP1 HTPC running mediaportal.

So far so good, everything is working fine, but the Picture-Quality is so bad compared to my standalone BR-Player Sony BDP-S350.

The LG 60PS8000 is set on Just Scan for both devices.

The HTPC is set to 1920x1080 and is showing the picture without overscan etc.

But the Colors on the standalone are much more vivid and 3d-ish. The blacklevel is much better (=blacker).

I dont know. It just seems "Washed out" somehow.

In the Catalyst Control Center all settings in the avivo section are set to "application handled" (i dont know if its called that in english, i use a german CCC).

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe some settings in the avivo to change? Or anything else?

Thanks for every suggestion.
Flo

you need to change your colour levels in CCC to either 16-235 or 0-255 depending on what your bluray applications uses. If you are using 0-255 make sure your TV supports this, some TVs have to be told to expect 0-255, on Samsung this is called "HDMI Level = Low" in the tv setup.

    Hi guys,

    thanks for your answers.

i will look into the colorlevels. i think i saw that option somewhere. then id have to take a look at the tv settings too right?

why would the upgrade to 1.1b help?
I wanted to upgrade to the release version that i can update mediaportal in the future. Beta-Versions dont support that, as far as i know.

ill let you know how the colorlevel-thing worked out.

personally i can't understand what upgrading would do either, the problem you describe definitely relates to colour space.
yes, adjust settings within ATI control centre and on the TV.
you can do a serch with some/or of the following terms on google for more info
"color space htpc black levels 16 235 255"

ps - when RC1 is released you won't be able to upgrade to it. it's a new installation unfortunately.

I also think its the colour space. I googled it and the problems discribed sound exactly like mine.
thanks again kiwijunglist, your post pushed me in the right direction and as soon as i tested it out
ill be happy and thank you once more :)

Well, you haven't told us yet which MP version you use. Earlier versions of Mp had probs with black levels when using EVR as renderer.

Well then, to get proper black levels, do upgrade to 1.1beta!

1.0.2 contains a black level EVR bug
