TV-Server Version: N/A
MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 RC1 svn--09-03-2007--01-31-Rev15736
MediaPortal Skin: BlueTwo
Windows Version: XP Pro SP2
1. TV Card: Silicondust HDHomeRun
1. TV Card Type: ATSC & unencrypted QAM
1. TV Card Driver: Windows BDA

Recently, I upgraded to the most recent SVN release to get the SchedulesDirect plugin running as a replacement for Zap2it. After performing this upgrade, I noticed that MP no longer detects my HDHomeRun unit. I have since then upgraded the unit to the most recent firmware, have double-checked my capturecarddefinitions.xml file against what is specified in the unit's online documentation, and have performed a fresh install to double-check things. It's a no-go for me with the stock TVengine that is built into MP.

For another test, I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP in a VMWare virtual machine as a controllable test area for this problem. I first installed the HDHR drivers and software on the virtual machine and verified that it could view HD content through the tuner. I then proceeded to install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1, which went without a hitch. At this point, I took a snapshot of the machine so that I could revert to this position at any time. After taking the snapshot, I opened up the MP config application and tried adding the capture card. It doesn't pick up any tuner cards at all. The configuration.log also does not display any errors.

Is anyone else out there with an HDHomeRun unit running the most recent software/firmware? Anyone have any ideas why the tuner might have just dropped off like this? It's odd that I can view perfectly in VLC, but MP just can't pick up the card. I have a ticket open with Silicondust and they have verified that my capturecarddevices.xml file is correct. They are going to set up a test of their own in the coming days.

Any light that anyone can shed on this would be GREATLY appreciated!

I don't have any light to shed but I am having the same problem. I've tried using my HDHomeRun on a couple of different machines using MediaPortal and followed all the directions (registered .ax, editied capturecarddefinitions.xml, etc...) and haven't had any success. It just says no capture devices are found.

I did install the tv server on one of the machines and it did find the HDHomerun tuner and mapped my channels. I didn't get any video but don't really want to go the tv server route, at least not now, so I didn't research that problem much.

My HDHomeRun is working with VLC and I even set up a mythTV server and it picked it up.
I'm running 2 XBMC boxes and want the similar type of application that MediaPortal gives but with the HDTV capabilites.

So to copy airxdata's statement. Any light that anyone can shed on this would be GREATLY appreciated!

also running 0.2.3.0 RC1 with latest svn
XP Pro SP2
tried on both intel and amd machines.

Thanks

I am not sure what is happening either, but I can tell you that using the TV3 engine, I am able to see the HDHomerun, but I am not able to see any picture, all I get is a black screen.
I do know that the information that needed to be added to the .xml file has changed so you might want to make sure that you have the right info in there, but other than that, I still have not got it to work.

The information was updated some time ago, yes, but I do have the proper entries in my XML file. I've double-checked them with Silicondust support staff and even ran graphedit to look at the filters for the capture card myself and verified that everything is golden. It's like it doesn't even really look for the card? I really don't know. I reached the limit of what I can do, other than bumping the logging up to the max, running the config app, and then sifting through the log for any clue as to where it might be going wrong. However, I don't think this is a problem that an end user can solve. It feels like something has changed in the code related to ATSC, QAM, or BDA tuners. Any chance a dev might want to take a gander at this and lend a hand?

You might want to send Dman_LFC your graphs and any other changed information regarding ie card name\moniker from updated drivers.

Might also be nice to know on what setup of MP (revision no.) it last worked.

    Thanks

Truth be told, I have no real idea what I am doing in Graphedit. I stumbled my way through to find what I could about the card.

For the last version it was working in... I originally had it up and running in 0.2.3.0 RC1, yet when I set things up in the virtual machine with that same version, I couldn't do it. I think it might be that since the device ID for the tuner changed, the problem started. Unfortunately, I don't have an older version of the drivers/firmware to test with. I'd be willing to perform the proper steps in graphedit to get this card up and running, but I don't have any idea what filters would be required.

A few steps ahead there. That thread deals with the new TVengine3, which isn't being used in this case. I did a full search for HDhomerun on the forums and haven't come up with anything for the past few days.

    Hi

Look here how to possibly find out why things have altered, follow the instructions bit by bit, and you should at least find out what has changed, and send the info to Dman_LFC

mzemina is correct at pointing you to TVE3, because everything will be based on TVE3 as a service, and MyTV (TVE2) will be stopped, but it's what you are happy with at the moment that counts.

Thanks for the link. I'll give that one a go.

Oh, believe me, I've given it a few tries over the last year. Once it's ready for primetime, I'll be all over it. I just haven't had it run smooth enough for me in the past to feel good about making the switch.
