Heavy HDD access caused by TVserver? (1 Viewer)

Running 0.2.3.0RC1, did a clean install.

I observe heavy disc access once in a while without the HTPC not doing anything.. I checked the taskmanager for strange processes running, did not find any.

I run filemon (sysinternals) to find out what files are accessed and by which process.

I found out that when this heavy duty appears it is the TVservice.exe tasks reading from TVlibrary.mdf.

I do not understand why this is happening, first I thought it might be EPG update. But as I am using TVmovie importer and did not find any write entry to the database it could not be the EPG update.

What is causing this heavy load on the database? What is tvservice doing there and how can I find out and resolve this.

During these periods of heavy load which seem to last for several mins to half on hour the system performance is down. E.g. opening an explorer window takes up to a minute (while CPU load is low).

I guess that these heavy loads are the cause for me having several recordings with stutters and "hickups".

Just look at the log file and you'll know.

If there is nothing an those access are only a short time it might be related to garbage collection and memory swapping.

From memory I would say it happens every couple of hours and it takes up to 5-30 minutes. During this time MP and even the whole computer is almost not responsive anymore.

I hope to find a setting to cure this.

I looked into the tvservice DB and I found out some old EPG data, I thought it would have been deleted by time, but it is still there. (Maybe because of switch to a newer MP release?!)

I deleted the outdated EPG info. Will watch this scenario to happen again (or not).

MIght MYSQL be the better choice?! Maybe a smaller footprint?!
