help cant play avi (1 Viewer)

i using p4 3.06 ddr2 512mb, via chipset motherboard, onboard s3 vga, ac97 soundcard, 80gb sata harddisk. media portal v0.2.0.0 problem is i can't player any avi or mpeg file in my video when i select the file nothing come up. i have try install power dvd v7.0 and media player 10. still same problem thanks

Hi,

this onboard s3 vga is imho causing your problems.

MP uses DX9 and VMR9 for display and playback. Unfortunately these technologies aren't supported well by this inboard solution. You should consider to spend your system a decent DX9 card.
