Hi,
I'm planning to build a new HTPC, to couple with my brand new TV, Samsung LE 46A756.

I'm in doubt on the motherboard and the CPU:
my first decision is to go with a nVIdia GF9300 chipset, for 775 socket, like the "Asus P5N7A-VM GeForce 9300".
For the CPU I'll use an old C2D E6600 (2.4 GHZ, 65W), which I already have.

Recently AMD has delivered a new chipset: the 785G. I don't have decided for the brand.
With this chipset I'll take a AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Ed. (3.1 GHz, 85W).

The main difference, according to some review, between this chipset is that the 785G doesn't have the 7.1 LPCM over HDMI audio, which is not a problem for me (I'll use the SP/DIF audio out to connect with my 5.1 surround system).
Maybe the nVidia solution is more performance with games.

For the pricing, the AMD solution is cheapest (I have to replace the C2D with a new one).
My question is: which is the best solution for playing hi-res video (H264, Blue-Ray film, Matroska container) and standard video, with the best quality?

:D

Bye
