Hi,

Can someone help me?

I keep downloading the Media Portal software and using the installation wizard, but on clicking to activate media portal icon, I get "windows has encountered apriblem with media portal.exe".

This has even happened on a disc for the software I have tried to upload...

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Without much information it's hard to tell, but I'd put money on it being a lack of .NET 2.0. Have you installed that? It is available from Windows Update.

    Help for the Beginner still

    Hi,

I think I have loaded this up wrong, I have donwloaded, then used winzip, unizipped and installed, then the icons appear, I click "Media Portal" on my desktop and then my error "windows has encountered the problem media portal.exe and needs to shut down".

I have gone into Program Files but MP is not a folder but a file, and I cannot find the logs anywhere as advised.

I think I may be an idiot....

Any advice? Apart from stop using computers! Ho ho.

    first open:
    C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\
is that a problem (does it exist?)

next try running "configuration.exe" form that directory

    then try running "MediaPortal.exe"

if you get error as some stage there should be a "log" folder (C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log) containing several error logs

I suspect you may be and idiot and doing something stupid:D , but just what that is?
