Hi.

I am having problems geting MP to play 1080 .ts files. Have tried a number of different codec combinations, but the video still stutters. I believe the hardware is up to speb; the same files plays faultlessly in WMP 11. Have I missed something obvious?

I have installed the CCCP which has always been fine, but only just tried the hi def stuff.

I'm running 1.1.0 RC1 on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. ATI x1300/1550 graphics card with AMD X2 5050e processor with 2Gb ram. My analysis leads me to think that the hardware is not the problem as I can play the video in other software, hence my plea for help....

The PC is a dedicated HTPC setup, and Mediaportal is the only choice as far as application is concerned, a great piece of work team, respect.

Thanks.

Ashley

The choice for playing HD movies is MPC codec as this gives hardware acceleration, is that included in cccp, long time since I tried it.

MPC is available in shark007's codec pack, or SAF on the forum.

Cheers Ray, I'll give SAF a go and let you know.

One thing that still puzzles me tho, is how come WMP is ok, but MP has a hiccup?

    Cheers.

    Dear Snickwad,

I have the same problem, i already reported it:

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/codecs-external-players-55/mediaportal-bad-playback-quality-lot-dropped-frames-79792/

There is a playback performance issue with TS files (same case for Live TV, which actually plays the received TS file in real time), and it seems that the developers are working to fix it on RC2. Its a shame, because all other parts of MediaPortal are working perfect. I love this software, however we will have to wait for the fix.

Dont waste time trying different codecs, because it is not a codec issue. I tried MPC, PDVD9 and Arcsoft codecs and all of them have the same behaviour. There is a simple way to prove that the issue is with MediaPortal:

    - Download Graphedit tool
    - Open a command prompt, go to Graphedit folder and register the dll: "regsvr32 proppage.dll"
    - Open MediaPortal (uncheck "always on top" setting) and start to play your TS file
    - Open Graphedit tool and press CTRL+G (connects to the remote graph). Now you should see the graph that MediaPortal is using for the playback.
    - To check the playback quality, right click on Enhanced Video Renderer, select Filter Properties and watch for "Frames dropped in renderer". If they are incrementing, you have stutter.
    - Save the graph to some location of your preference.
    - On Graphedit, press CTRL+H to disconnect from the remote filter
    - Close MediaPortal
    - On Graphedit, open the Graph that you saved and play it.
    - To check the playback quality, right click on Enhanced Video Renderer, select Filter Properties and watch for "Frames dropped in renderer". If they are not incrementing, you proved that the issue is with MediaPortal. If they are still incrementing, you have a different issue.

Check it anc give us a feedback.

    Best regards,

    Felipe.
