Hi guys and gals. First post here but I've been toying with MP for a while now and LOVE IT!
I'm preparing to purchase a 47" LCD 1080p set and build a brand new MPC. I've decided on my motherboard, sound, CPU, RAM & Hard Drive but I need some help on my PCI-E video card and my DVB card.
My budget for the video card is < $150 (though I could be convinced otherwise). I need a little advise on what's good enough to view HDTV and DVD without problems. I was looking at this card - any thoughts?:
XFX GeForce 7300 GT / 512MB GDDR2 / PCI Express / Ultra-Silent Cooling / Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card
On that card linked above, the small print says "Integrated HDTV encoder provides analog TV-output (Component/Composite/S-Video) up to 1080i resolution". Does that mean that I get a max of 1080i with this card or just when through that "HDTV" port? I'm assuming I can get full 1080p via the DVI but I'm no expert so any thoughts on this would be VERY helpful. I really don't want to buy the wrong equipment!
When it comes to the tuner card, I'm really at a loss. I've looked around the MP site and just can't seem to make all the info click in my head so if someone could help out a newby here I'd REALLY appreciate it!
As far as tuning, all I'll be doing is watching over-the-air HDTV. I'd like to be able to record 2 HDTV stations at once and also like to be able to record analog broadcasts too. I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions on the best card to get (or how many?). Should I have any problems recording 2 HDTV broadcasts at the same time?
I have a few more questions but this should do for now! If you need any clarification just let me know.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
- Tim
