I have searched the site for the last few weeks and have found nothing on this issue.
I have a great PC:
- AMD 3800 running at 2.1 Ghtz
- 2GB DDR400 RAM
- an nVidea 7300 connected to my TV (No other monitor)
- 100GB IDE drive for my OS and programs
- 400GB SATA drive for the media storage
- an ATI TV Wonder card (and yes it is hardware encoding and the regular TV tuner functions work fine).
I have my satalite set top box connected to the ATI TV Wonder card via the composite video cable.
I am trying to do the following (in order of importance to me...)
1) Get my Line in (composite) to display in MP.
2) Be able to schedule recording times for the composite video in.
3) Have the scheduled recordings start even when MP is not currently running.
A 1 minute warning might be nice if I am doing something that might interfeer with the recording, like watching a DVD.
4) Be able to schedule programs through a TV listing ap but have them record off the composite video instead of the normal channel.
5) Record shows I like or have recorded before but didn't know that they were on at a different time or channel.
6) Telepathically transmit the finished recording (without comercials and no repeats) to my mind when I am in really boring places...
OK, 5 and 6 are basically nuts and when I get them working I will get to work on the transporter... (although Item 5 does sound like something a Microsoft Ap might try to do when you weren't looking.
I am interested in items 1-4 and 1-3 is a must! The new TV season starts soon and I don't want to relearn how to use my VCR.
Love MP and will start hacking it soon. Nothing like a good open source to sink your teeth into!
Thanks All.
