I have read all teh documentation very carefully. It does not have any information about setting up MP with a set-top-box for cable that I could find anyways. I am fumbling my way thought the configuration, but I desperately need help!

In the TV-Server configuration i tried scanning for channels like it says to do in the manual, but then I realized this will not work if you are connected to a set-top-box. (the documentation really should have this information). If I go to the TV Channels heading, and select S video, I can preview the television channel that the cable box is set to. What the heck do I do from here??? I found one search that said you have to set up the channels manually, but not only does that sound insanely tedious (I have at least 100 channels, if not more) but I cant even figure out where I go to set them up!

I found this post:

With Mediaportal not running go into Mediaportal Setup (i.e. double-click the setup icon on your desktop). All the settings you need to adjust are under Television -> TV Capture Card and TV Channels.

- Delete and re-add the TV capture card to start afresh. Check the settings but the default ones should be ok.
- Forget about the Autotune function, it's not applicable when going in via composite
- You need to set the TV card input to CVBS#1
- Delete any TV channels you might have in the channel list
- Add a new TV channel, set it to 'Received by set-top box' and name it "Telewest STB" or something (under the 'External tab' i believe). Your new channel should now appear in the channel list when you go back to it.

This should be about as much as you need to do!

which is what I did. However, I have found other posts that talk about importing an XMLTV file to get the guide to work. Much like this excellent tutorial, which no longer works with the current version of MP: HTPC Guide: Part 4, Set Up Your TV Tuning at SavvyGeek
