Hallo.

I'm about to buy a CPU to my new motherboard, but I dont know what to buy.
I have a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard and I hope to be able to see HD-tv and HD-film on one client and see live tv on three other clients. I hope that it can be done at the same time without any stuttering. What CPU shall I choose to be able to do this? I have one suggestion and that is
AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual-Core 4850e 2.5GHz 2x512KB 45W, will that be enough?
Maybe I should say that I'm running winXP.

This CPU fits perfect and will be enough to watch Full-HD content when using the e.g. Cyberlink's codecs for hardware acceleration.

    AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual-Core 4850e 2.5GHz 2x512KB 45W

That should be fine, especially with 2Gb of matched ram (so cheap really is not worth getting less or more).

DXVA works on XP, with the correct codecs (such as PowedDVD etc) and is used with VMR9.
EVR is the Vista version and while that works with XP the acceleration is only possible with Vista.

I hope that's right, there has been so much informaiton and debate it's almost impossible to summarise :)

So what you're saying is that hardware acceleration is not working with XP?
Will there by any chans be any update or anything thats make it work on XP?

DXVA (=hw acc.) does work, as stated above, using VMR9. For EVR it will never work @ XP, from what I've read.
