 I was wondering if someone knows of this problem that I am having. I searched teh forum but couldn't find this problem. I'm sorry that I don't have the system info since I am at work right now  but I can follow up with it once I get home. Perhaps the solution can be had regardless.

Here are some basic setup info that I do know

Tuner Card - Hauppauge PVR-150
OS - Windows XP SP2
PC - Athlon XP 2000
RAM - 512 MB
MP - latest download 0.2
DirecTV Satellite External Box
Hauppauge IRBlaster
Zap2it Plugin

When I go to MyTV, I can view channel 3 which is the Internal TV channel the settop box send out to the PVR-150 card. Although when I tune into another channel, the screen goes black ( and no sound) on my PC but have another TV hooked up to the DirecTv box and the channel will change on it. So I know that the IRBlaster is working with MP for changing channels. It almost seems that MP is changing "external set top box" like it was a "TV tuner card".

I hope this made sense.

Thanks!

    Hi Ximple,

I see you have a Hauppauge IRBlaster and a DirecTV external STB.

How are you performing your channel changing? Did your IRBlaster come with software that works with MP?

I have an MCE remote that came with an IR receiver and two IR cables, but I can't get it working just yet. Got any tips for another US user?

    Thanks!

    Hi natrlhy,

I did get it to finally work. I have a PVR-150 with the IRBlaster cable and Hauppauge remote that came bundled together. Here are the steps I used to get it working.

    1. Install the Hauppauge software (get the latest drivers off of the website)
    2. Configure the Hauppauge channel (i just configured channel 3 which is what my settop box sends out).
    3. Configure the IR blaster with the Hauppauge software. I believe I had to use code 125 for my irblaster to control the DirecTV box but yours may be different.
    4. I used the Zap2it plugin.

Get a Zap2it account and setup your account through their site.

Then under the Zap2it plugin configuration, choose RGB as the input and select the force download.

Startup media portal and you should have after a few minutes a popup saying your channels have been updated.

    Shut down MP.

Open the TV channel database which is located in the Database folder and use SQLlite.exe (which i belive is somewhere on the MP file folders or you can download it off the web) which is a SQL browser/editor. Go to the TV channels section and you should see a bunch of info on your channels. You need to replace the numbers that look like 25003 with the settop box channel from your DirecTV (mine is channel 3). Save the file. There is a great post somewhere on this forum.

Start up media portal and you should be working!

    Hope this helped. :D

PS Don't get frustrated if you don't get a reply. I haven't been helped yet but there is a wealth of information in the forums and wiki. It's taken me about 2 weeks to get it really working and I'm still trying to resolve a suspend issue. This is a great program and some impressive/dedicated developers.
