Hi all,
I had some PC bit's lying around and thought it would be a good idea to throw them together to build a HTPC to replace my Xbox running XBMC.
I don't want blu-ray or a tv tuner. I just want the machine to play my large collection of Divx & Xvid files over my network and the odd DVD.
I also want to be able to play 720p and 1080p encoded Divx and WMV files.
The system is currently as follows :
Thermaltake Tenor case
ASRock P4 Combo MB
1 Gb RAM
Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz CPU
MCE Remote
Nvidia 5700FX 256Mb graphics card
It plays 720 and 1080 perfectly.
The graphics card is fan cooled and quite noisy - I am thinking of swapping it out for a passively cooled graphics card that I have lying around. My question is, will I lose much performance in doing so?
The graphics card I am thinking of replacing the 256Mb 5700FX with is an Nivida 6200 128Mb card.
Any ideas please folks?
