Help with Harmony 525 (1 Viewer)

I have bought a Harmony 525 and generic IR reciever, and no matter what i cant get the remote to get recognised (ie no reaction from MP). Is there a way to confirm that the IR reciever is working, even with another app besides MP? The remote works fine on other components (eg TV) but no reaction from the HTPC.

Is there any step-by-step instructions anywhere on setting these up? I have followed a bunch of threads but no luck.

Perhaps you should start with a selection which type of remote reciever should be used in MP configuration. I think you should have a look at the "SerialUIR" configuration. The next step could be to select any profile that features enough buttons to control MP (rather different from real devices you are using) in the Harmony configuration utility. After this it should be possbile to learn the harmony 525 signals in MP.

I'm using a harmony 525 and a serial IR receiver (IR-Einschalter). Before I used the skystar2 remote with winlirc and girder 3.29.
What remote should I use for the harmony? Windows Media Center or MediaPortal or a different remote (e.g. Sony PVR)? Must I use winlirc (with Girder) or IR suite or an internal configuration of MP?

Be sure to set the remote to MCE in Mediaportal configuration.

I'm using a 555, with an IR reciever (and have been for over a year) with no problems. Just select use MCE remote in the media portal config and your away. And of course make sure you have set up the remote correctly in the Harmony Software.
