HI, I am new to Media Portal but am enjoying it very much. I have mine all setup and working, I can :- view/play videos/music/picture from my NAS I can watch/record Digital Freeview TV using my Hauppauge HVR 1300 with an antenna. What I want to do is copy all the rubbish my kids have filled my sky + HD box with. I'm in no way interested in trying to preserve the HD quality, as i don't have the time, or money for all the harddrives i would need :) What I would be happy with is a good quality recording from the S-Video out of the Sky Box. (it does have one :) ). I can set up media portal to watch and record this output, but I feel the quality is lacking. I get a reasonably good picture, but when there is motion I get what I can only describe as motion blur, or a very bad transition from Frame to frame, and sometimes it seems as if the "show" is running just a little bit slow, or perhaps not showing the 25fps, but it is not jerky (i hope all that makes sense) I have no idea if this is encoder, decoder, codecs, or drivers. I don't profess to know much about any of it. What I do know is that the Hauppauge Card has an MPEG 2 encoder on board. I have a dual core intel 3ghz motherboard and processors 2 gb ram 250gb HD space nvidia 8800 gts 512 Windows VIsta (not my choice and I will downgrade to XP as soon as i can find my disk) Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1300 Hauppauge Computer Works Ltd : WinTV-HVR-1300 Meidaportal downloaded on Friday As far as i am aware the only codec pack i have installed are :- FFDSHOW Haali matrokosa splitter. Although i have not touched the config on either. I would appreciate any advice (in simple terms). Cheers and thanks in advance. Toby
