1. A trigger to wake is being activated. Go into device manager. Then under keyboard, mouse, network card uncheck allow this device to wake computer. If fixed then you can turn them on one by one to figure out which one it is.

2. Hybernate is failing. Do you have enough disk space for the hybernate filed?

3. Still got problems..you could try doing a standby instead of a hybernate. If it works then try setting it back to hybernate.

At home I have seen this issue on several occasions.
Won't standby - the MCE remote was down the side of the sofa and button being pressed.
Or someone had put something on top of the keyboard which pressed the space bar.
Random standby wakeups: this one was caused by the floor vibrations moving the laser mouse.

The fix in all my cases was to uncheck the option to allow the devices to wake the system up. Now I only have the MCE remote and PC power button wake it up.

Does it restart during hibernation when you are not using MediaPortal? If so, check if hibernations is activated on your motherboard and in bios. Also check your network card settings. Have you tested the MCE standby utility?

My computer behaved in the same way when the jumpers on the motherboard was set to S1 sleep instead of S3.

    My default install works fine.
The standby issues I had were all OS configuration issues.
