I noticed recently, after upgrading to 1.0.2, a periodic high CPU usage. This was noticeable as the fans kicked in.

After a little investigation using perfmon remotely onto my htpc I realised that mediaportal used more CPU than I would have expected and periodically it would rise to 100% and most is down to MP running privileged code. A specific case of this is when playing a simple mp3 file. The privileged usage hits 60%

When I play the same file using VLC I hardly see any change in CPU usage. I also have mediaportal installed on another machine and this does NOT have the same problem.

Any ideas?

high CPU also on EPG screen

Doing some further digging I have realised that when the EPG screen is showing the CPU is again very high - 40%. (see epg).
If I run a TV program then the usage drop dramatically with negligible privilege time (see tv).
If I run with the EPG up and TV is a small windows then the usage climbs (see tv&epg)

Any help much appreciated - this is causing me all sorts of problems (basically the fans become noisy)

cheers

Just a bit more information.

I ran TV, showed the EPG with the little TV on screen and then stopped the TV leaving just the EPG. The graph is below - it shows low usage while running tv, an increase when the epg (GUIDE) is shown and then another jump when the tv is stopped. Feels silly to me - surely displaying a static image is harder than a video

I really would like to know what's going one here.......
