Hello,

I am a Mediacenter user who wants to step over to Mediaportal, mainly because mediacenter doesn't support DVB-C witrh Ci.
Before I can step over, there are two problems I have to manage.

1. How can I automatic get my pc out of standby, update the EPG and then set the pc agin in standby again.

2. How can I automatic get my pc out of standby, start a planned recording and after recording set my pc agin in standby again.

When I have these problems solved, I will be able to start using Mediaportal and introduce it in my home (my wife is very sceptic about Mediaportal so I can not introduce it before I have everything working).

There are several sollution in this forum but can someone give a step by step sollution wich is understandable for non computerfreaks. Ik tryed several sollutions, but everytime I walk into problems.

Please halp a newbie mediaportal user

. How can I automatic get my pc out of standby, update the EPG and then set the pc agin in standby again.

Windows scheduler will do that as long as you use "Adminstrator" not your Name, with the original administrators password you gave on XP installation, I use WEBEPG which collects 14 days worth of info at 9.30am on saturday

    2. How can I automatic get my pc out of standby, start a planned recording and after recording set my pc agin in standby again.

Powerscheduler in MP will do that, MP setup/plugins powerscheduler (double click enable's) right click go to configure how long in the home screen MP has to be before powerscheduler goes to standby/hibernate.

Remember for recording at the moment, MediaPortal must be running in Home screen with no activity (music, video, tv playing)

And setting up your recordings is only a click away in the EPG

Have a read of the documentation, and any further difficulties you may need help/unsure with, post back.

So when I understand this right, it is not possible to start a automatic recording while watching TV?

If you're watching tv in mediaportal, your automatic recording will start, but you'll need one tuner for every channel you want to watch or record.

If you have one single-tuner card you can record or watch one channel at a time. If you're watchning something else when the recording is about to start, mp will ask you if you want to continue watching or start recording. You can watch the channel that you're recording if you like.

If you have several tuners, the recording will start in the background on an avaliable tuner, and you can continue to watch whatever channel you like.

    Hope this helps!
