How can I download movie metadata on a separate pc? (1 Viewer)

Internet connection at my home is slow and flaky. I have all my movies (and tv shows) on a few external drives. What I'd like to do is take them to a friends house, then download all the metadata into a folder, which I can then copy over into my local MP install. I'd also like to do this for MyTVSeries.

I've read some of the posts about centralized db/network installs but its not clear. Can someone tell me the best way to do this?

Duplicate your MediaPortal setup at your friends, including your existing local movie collection in a 0-byte file structure. That way the existing movies aren't deleted from the database when they can not be located. Then you can simply add the external drive (make sure it becomes same drive letter as you would use at home), and setup an import path if you haven't already. MovingPictures will detect the new files, add them to the database and you can simply copy the movingpictures.db3 database and 'thumbs' folder as-is for usage at home.

As for duplicating your movie folder structure with 0-byte files, that requires a little bit of Batch scripting.
