How do I connect the Client to the TV server? (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

I installed the MP client on my computer to start getting my movies and TV series all labled correctly and so far it worked great. I then went back and installed the TV server and configured my TV tuner cards and now want to use the client to watch TV from the server, but I cannot figure out how to do this. I am using 1.1.1 on win 7 machine. I hope I don't need to uninstall and reinstall with a server and client together install.

It should just be a case of entering the PCs name or IP address in MP Configuration -> TV -> TV Client -> Hostname

You can drill down through the menus in the Wiki and have a look at the configuration pages there:

Yeah, I thought it should be as simple as that, but I don't see the TV under Media Portal configuration. Take a look at the attached pic. The Wiki shows the TV under the DVD Disc, but my MP config does not have the TV menu. Note it is in expert mode.

I installed the client first on my computer and after using it for a while (1 week) then installed the TV server.

Do I need to reinstall everything as one combined single seat operation? I will in the future want to install clients on other machines in my house.

You have to choose the option "Yes - I will use MediaPortal to watch TV" in the installation process. After that you can decide to install just the client to connect to an existing tv-server or just the tv-server or a "singleseat installation" which includes both. (advanced installation)

So I think yes, you have to start the installation once again. But don't worry, your settings shouldn't get deleted.
